Comprehensive Healthcare Programs in Three Settings: Program Success in Implementing
Program Elements
Expert ratings of the importance and successful implementation of three
Comprehensive Healthcare projects were obtained through interviews with 69 key individuals
with unique perspectives about these demonstration projects. Participants gave
ratings of the projects' success in accomplishing program elements (29 items total) in
seven domains, including Patient Recruitment and Retention, Accessibility, Quality of
Care, Education and Training, Consumer Involvement, Service Networks, and Information
Dissemination. The highest program success means for each of the seven program domains
included having a committed staff, linking comprehensive care clinics to a university
medical school, the location/accessibility of the medical clinic, and educational support
to permit clients to cope with HIV/AIDS.
