This Knowledge Item shows the overall psychosocial service profiles [presence or absence of a type of service] received by more than 2000 clients in 10 innovative HIV/AIDS service programs. Four of the programs were innovative university-based medical programs providing medical and psychosocial support services while six of the programs were innovative community-based organization support models for HIV/AIDS patients who were maintained in medical treatment. The Knowledge Items in this series cover the psychosocial support services provided by the medical programs.

The ten programs define a modal profile of state-of-the-art psychosocial support services to be provided to HIV/AIDS clients with high levels of service need and vulnerability.
