| The Measurement Group is working
with
Advanced Living, Inc. (http://www.advancedlivinginc.org/)
in Lansdown, Pennsylvania, to develop an evaluation of the
Registered Nurses as Service Coordinators program. This model
provides support services for the residents of Schwenkfeld
Manor, a housing community for low-income older adults. This
project is funded by a grant to Advanced Living by the North
Penn Community Health Foundation. The major focus of this
project is to assess the capacity of this program for
evaluation, and to develop and implement procedures for ongoing
program evaluation.
The project consists of three
phases:
Phase I (Organizational Readiness
and Preparation)
- Conduct interviews and
meetings to determine organizational readiness for
conducting a program evaluation
- Conduct a needs assessment
among staff and a small assessment of the unmet needs of
clients prior to the program
- Conduct meetings with senior
management on what to expect if a program evaluation is
introduced into the organization
Phase II (Evaluation Design)
- In a consensus process
through meetings, work with staff to develop an appropriate
evaluation design for the organization
- In a consensus process
through meetings, with work staff and program management to
design appropriate tools for measuring outcomes and program
activities
- Train staff in methods of
data collection with clients
Phase III (Pilot Evaluation
Study)
- Guide staff in client data
collection
- Collect process measures
from staff · Analyze pilot data
- Meet with staff and program
management to show outcomes and demonstrate how the data
might be used for quality improvement and quality assurance
processes.
