The Measurement Group Knowledge Bases

Knowledge Bases are ongoing research and dissemination projects. Content is uploaded regularly. The Measurement Group has designed, developed, and published these Knowledge Bases to highlight important research on health, social service, and public planning issues. Please check back for updated and supplemental content. Content in the Knowledge Base sections changes frequently as Knowledge Items are added, elaborated, or enhanced with additional data, analyses, and recommendations.

The Measurement Group Knowledge Base on the Sustainability of Special Projects of National Significance
This Knowledge Base presents the findings of a study conducted to document the cumulative outcomes and impact of 108 national demonstration projects which started between 1991 and 1997, funded or co-funded by the HIV/AIDS Bureau, Special Projects of National Significance (SPNS) Program of the Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA) of the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services. The projects were funded for the purposes of developing, evaluating, and disseminating new service models for HIV/AIDS. At the time the projects were studied in 2003, about nine years had elapsed since the initial projects ended while two years had elapsed since project completion for the most recently funded projects. The time intervals both during and after the grant periods were studied. This study represents a cross-cutting evaluation of the outcomes achieved by these programs during their funding periods, the sustainability of the projects after the funding period ended, and the larger impact of this national program of HIV/AIDS services demonstration projects.

The Measurement Group Knowledge Base on HIV/AIDS Services: Innovative Models of Care
This Knowledge Base presents cross-cutting evaluation results derived from 27 Special Projects of National Significance (SPNS) grants funded by the HIV/AIDS Bureau of the Health Resources and Services Administration between 1994 and 1999. The Measurement Group conducted the cross-cutting evaluation of these projects. The 27 projects from which these results derive were funded to develop innovative models of HIV/AIDS care through medical services, psychosocial supports for medical services, psychosocial services, training to healthcare providers, and services infrastructure development. Updated daily. This is the primary Knowledge Base by The Measurement Group on HIV/AIDS and consists of a gigabyte of information. The primary authors of this Knowledge Base are G. J. Huba, Ph.D., Lisa A. Melchior, Ph.D., and A. T. Panter, Ph.D.

The Measurement Group Knowledge Base on HIV/AIDS Services: Adolescent Care Models
This Knowledge Base presents cross-cutting evaluation results derived from 10 Special Projects of National Significance (SPNS) grants funded by the HIV/AIDS Bureau of the Health Resources and Services Administration between 1993 and 1998. The Measurement Group conducted the cross-cutting evaluation of these projects. The 10 projects from which these results derive were funded to develop innovative models for HIV/AIDS services to youth with HIV/AIDS, or at high-risk for HIV/AIDS. The models include ones for medical treatment of youth, psychosocial supports for youth in medical treatment, and services infrastructure development. Under revision and development. This Knowledge Base is based on our earlier work and is being amplified and extended. The primary authors of this Knowledge Base are G. J. Huba, Ph.D., Lisa A. Melchior, Ph.D., and A. T. Panter, Ph.D.

Summary Report on Results in the Knowledge Base on HIV/AIDS Services: Innovative Models of Care
This report summarizes major findings in the Knowledge Base, and will serve as an introduction to the findings. Two versions are available: one version uses color graphics and is suitable for viewing on a computer monitor while the alternate version uses black-and-white graphics and is suitable for printing on a standard laser printer.
