Imaginal Processes Inventory:
A Research and Assessment Tool by Jerome L. Singer, Ph.D., and Collaborators

Imaginal Processes Inventory
The Imaginal Processes Inventory (IPI) is a comprehensive battery developed by Jerome L. Singer and John S. Antrobus in 1970 from Singer's (1966) original daydreaming questionnaire. The 344 Likert-type IPI items comprise 28 scales which measure aspects of daydreaming style and content, mental style, and general inner experience. Click on the links below to access the IPI and its scoring keys.

Short Imaginal Processes Inventory
The Short Imaginal Processes Inventory (SIPI) was derived by George J. Huba, Jerome L. Singer, Carol S. Aneshensel, and John S. Antrobus from the items of the full Imaginal Processes Inventory (IPI) written by Jerome L. Singer and John S. Antrobus in 1970. Items were chosen to provide a brief yet comprehensive assessment of the three second-order underlying factors of the original full IPI. Click on the links below to access the different components of the SIPI. Note that the SIPI was originally published by Sigma Assessment Systems (formerly Research Psychologists Press) and that the copyright is now held by Dr. Singer and his collaborators.

Copyright on each of the above components -- manual, questionnaire, scoring keys, profile sheets, summary -- has been transferred from the original holder (Research Psychologists Press or its successor, Sigma Assessment Systems) to the author(s), and is maintained by Dr. Jerome L. Singer. See "Guidelines for Use" below.
