Grant Title: Test the Feasibility of Providing Comprehensive HIV Services under a Capitated Reimbursement System.
Project Period: 10/94-09/99.
Description: The objective of this project is to test the feasibility of providing comprehensive HIV services under a capitated reimbursement system. This pilot project offers a comprehensive managed healthcare program to Medi-Cal-eligible AIDS patients in Los Angeles County and was established through the State of California's Department of Health Services. The AHF Clinic patients will have access to a full continuum of medical and social services. An intended outcome of this project is to demonstrate that an enhanced, capitated, managed healthcare approach to providing HIV/AIDS care will produce fewer opportunistic infections, fewer and shorter hospitalizations, better compliance with medical treatment, and an overall longer life-span including a better quality of life for HIV/AIDS diagnosed populations.
