Grant Title: HIV/AIDS Advocacy Program – Community Advocate Training Program.
Project Period: 10/94-09/96.
Description: Michigan Protection and Advocacy will expand its HIV/AIDS Advocacy Program to increase access to legal services and information on rights to HIV-positive African-Americans, Latinos, gay men and lesbians throughout Michigan. The program will train volunteer community advocates on HIV-related laws, who will in turn provide legally-based advocacy services to clients within their own communities. The program will also train attorneys, expand an attorney referral network, and pursue some impact litigation.
