90 Minute Workshop

Category: Care & Services

Presentation Date & Time: 03/27/98 13:45:00

The web site of The Measurement Group was developed on the World Wide Web as an innovative method of disseminating evaluation findings about HIV/AIDS service programs and related resources. This web site currently includes sections on the evaluations of more than 40 HIV/AIDS service delivery programs, many of which are funded by the U.S. Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA) Special Projects of National Significance (SPNS) Program. We will be showing a large number of the tools utilized in evaluating HIV/AIDS programs that are available on our web site. The presentation will focus on the use of the World Wide Web as a vehicle for innovative methods of disseminating evaluation results virtually instantaneously to a wide audience. The explosion of the World Wide Web makes information available to a much broader audience, with a much faster turn-around than traditional methods of disseminating evaluation findings. Especially when applied to an epidemic such as HIV/AIDS, the rapid availability of program evaluation findings has the potential to dramatically affect how those findings are applied at the clinical, research, and policy levels. The presentation will have an applied focus and be framed in terms of the practical uses of the Internet as a resource and mode of dissemination of information about HIV/AIDS service programs. A computer projector (presenter will furnish) will be used along with the actual web site, thus permitting audience members to see what is possible.
