HIV Special Needs Plan Development
Ira Feldman, Ellen Anderson,
Hope Plavin, Joe Anarella, Humberto Cruz, Barbara Frankel. The AIDS Institute and Office
of Managed Care of the New York State Department of Health awards $2 Million dollars in
grants to 18 health care organizations for the development of planning models for HIV
Special Needs Managed Care Plans. The grants were awarded to a range of HIV service
organizations including AIDS Center Hospitals, Community Based Organizations, Health
Systems Agencies and Health Maintenance Organizations. These organizations will develop
the structural components of a Special Needs Plan, including fiscal, administrative and
organizational modeling pertinent to their identified planning area and organizational
sponsorship. This information will assist the State in developing licensure,
organizational and program requirement for HIV Special Needs Plans.
