About The Measurement Group

The Measurement Group LLC is a consulting firm that specializes in working with public and private sector clients, large and small, to develop and implement methods of measuring program success for the purposes of evaluation, quality assurance, monitoring and management information, and research.

The Measurement Group LLC has evaluated programs funded by the Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA); the Center for Substance Abuse Treatment (CSAT); the Center for Substance Abuse Prevention (CSAP); the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC); the National Institute on Drug Abuse (NIDA); the Office of Treatment Improvement (OTI); the State of California; the Counties of Los Angeles, San Diego, Ventura, Lassen, and Plumas (California). Our numerous private-sector clients are in the areas of healthcare, substance abuse treatment, psychological test publishing, and data systems. We have done work throughout the United States and in Canada. We work with clients to develop methods to measure program success and to mine existing data for the purposes of evaluation, quality assurance, management information, and marketing. We are experts in the tools and methods for data collection, analysis, reporting, and policy development. Our work covers the areas of healthcare, mental health treatment, substance abuse services, HIV/AIDS, social services, psychological testing and assessment, data systems, data analysis, and statistical modeling. Senior TMG staff are recognized national experts and leaders in these areas. We specialize in working closely with client organizations, no matter how small or large, to identify the goals of the client and help achieve those goals.


Mission and Organizational Structure


The Measurement Group was founded in 1988 to promote public policy, strategic planning and decision-making tasks for healthcare and related services through the application of social research, psychological testing, and evaluation techniques. The Measurement Group has the mission of using creative methods of scientific planning, program evaluation, and consensus decision-making processes to build and evaluate human services delivery systems. The Measurement Group specializes in innovative methods of information dissemination using online Knowledge Bases and other Internet-based techniques.

TMG currently employs a staff that includes senior professionals in the fields of psychology, public health, and other applied social sciences. Additionally, more than a dozen senior professionals are used as recurring consultants to TMG (consultants range from physicians to econometricians to psychologists with both clinical and evaluation expertise to consumers who are representative of various populations with HIV). In 1995, The Measurement Group received the Distinguished Contribution Award from the California Association of County Alcohol and Drug Program Administrators for its work in establishing and evaluating innovative models of service care throughout the State of California.


Experience and Organizational Capability


The Measurement Group (TMG) has participated in several dozen public-sector evaluation projects – spanning periods as long as six years – funded through the Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA), the National Institute on Drug Abuse (NIDA), the Centers for Disease Control (CDC), the Center for Substance Abuse Treatment (CSAT), the Center for Substance Abuse Prevention (CSAP), the Office for Treatment Improvement (OTI), and the State of California. The Measurement Group has performed cross-cutting evaluation functions on four major projects for HRSA. The Measurement Group also has a number of private-sector clients including healthcare agencies, test publishers, and corporations.

TMG has top-of-the-line equipment for the collection, entry, and processing of survey, psychological test, and interview data and the production of camera-ready reports. TMG offices include computer and server systems that are frequently upgraded to keep up with technological advancements. TMG has implemented fax-in data collection technology nationally, and several computers with numerous incoming data fax lines are available. Electronic equipment is available for multimedia presentations. TMG has resources for developing and maintaining Internet sites on the World Wide Web (www.TheMeasurementGroup.com) and has implemented a fax-on-demand system to disseminate information 24-hours a day. TMG has well-established operations for maintaining data security including daily backups of data files on a state-of-the-art backup system.
